German Shepherd Oklahoma

The dog is very intelligent, easy to train performing a lot of different tasks. Though bred as a herding dog, it was later used in many various other types of work. Nowadays the breed is probably the most popular breed in the USA and all over the world. In the 1950s and 60s, the Americans became interested in the dog, and therefore large numbers of dogs were imported. A syndicated television show and a number of movies starring Rin Tin Tin, a descendent of the canine movie star from the 1920s helped spur the renewed interest.

German Shepherd Oklahoma -
picture, puppies
According to the AKC breed standard, the height of males varies from 24 to 26 inches at the withers; females should stand from 22 to 24 inches. Every dog gives a definite impression of masculinity or femininity, according to the sex. These dogs are deep-bodied, with smooth outlines, massive withers, and large head. The neck of these dogs is long enough to provide a typical carriage of the head a little higher than the top of the shoulders. To provide for free and quick movement, these dogs have a capacious chest and very massive shoulders. The forequarters are a little longer than hindquarters, so the back looks slightly sloping.
